In a report published a week ago, a whopping £135m was spent on health and wellness holidays during 2006, with spending forecasted to double by 2011.  A poll revealed that 16 million adults had enjoyed spas and spa breaks in the past year with 23%, indulging in a spa massage, spa treatments and saunas at luxury spa hotels and resorts, country retreats and wellness centres around the world.

Medical tourism was also very popular with people travelling to Eastern Europe and beyond for cheaper dental work or cosmetic surgery.
